This is beautiful, Ayman. In a similar way to yourself, I would say that I create to try and understand my feelings and rationalise them but at the same time just sit with them and accept how I’m feeling. My parents split up in 2021 and although it was for the best and made me the person I am today, it was still a huge emotional toll and one that I initially wanted to brush off and move on with my life. Eventually, though, I found that writing poetry/creative non-fiction actually helped me to come to terms with the whole situation and to this day I still write down any emotions in poetry form when I feel like I’m overwhelmed. Thank you again for sharing this post and I can’t wait to see more! 💘
I’m so glad to hear that you’ve moved on successfully though and although the pain will always be there, at least you can reflect on it in a much healthier manner. It’s amazing what creative expression can do isn’t it?! I’m so glad you liked this :))
I’m also currently making a side hustle that I think you’d really like and enjoy participating in because it really focuses on this idea but in a way that hasn’t been done before so please keep a look out on that.
Thank you again and I can’t wait to hear what you think about future posts :))
Agreed!! I was in the same boat as you with creative expression at first too; I’m just about to graduate from a Creative Writing and Publishing degree and chose to take all subjects related to publishing since that’s the career I’m hoping to pursue. But now I look back I’m kinda regretting not taking the creative writing modules!! 😅 So will definitely keep an eye out for your side hustle project as I’d love to get involved 💘
Is that a masters or an undergrad? I was actually planning to go into publishing myself! I’ve got around two years of experience :) but I don’t wanna go into specifically, traditional publishing anymore. But I’ll definitely let you know what’s happening with it. Fingers crossed everything goes well. Keep an eye out on my insta for more updates :))
It’s an undergrad! I’ve loved it and I honestly don’t want to leave haha 😅 Oh wow that’s amazing, it’s so hard to get into the industry so that’s so cool you’ve already got experience! What kind of publishing would you go into if not traditional?
Will do, I’m sure whatever it is will be great - I believe in you! 💘
It was but alhamdullilah I’ve learnt a lot since she passed away and for the better. Thank you so much for your comment and I’ll be waiting to hear it!
(I’ve heard very good things about you Substack supporters. So I’m looking forward to this journey :))

That’s amazing! Hope it goes well for you. And I’m more thinking of going into social media/ marketing/ content writing. That sorta side of things x
L
I need to learn marketting from you lol. You've mentioned the side gig enough that now I really want to know what it is lmao.
Gotta do sonething like that to build up anticipation for my poetry manuscript I'm working on.
I could help you? Lemme know!
That would be amazing! I'm a bit focused on a goal for the next two months, so I'll have to come back to this!
No worries :)
Welcome to Substack Ayman!
Losing a dear friend in your youth must hit hard subhanallah. I can see how the poetry came about. I'm glad you found healing through this medium!
My story is very random but that's just called fate. I need to run so I might share my poetry beginnings some other time!
(You will soon cherish your substack readers and friends more than your IG ones I think 😁 we're just that cool here)
